ABBE Refractometer AR12

Classical, visual refractometer for the determination of the refractive index of liquid media with high or low viscosity

ABBE Refractometer AR12

The Schmidt+Haensch ABBE refractometer AR12 is a classic, visual refractometer, named after its inventor Ernst Abbé, designed to determine the refractive index of liquid media with high or low viscosity. It is ideal for rapid quality control of liquids and on-site analysis.

Features of the ABBE Refractometer

  • Broad measuring range
  • Simple handling
  • Small sample volume needed
  • Water bath lockable
  • Ideal for school/education

The ABBE refractometer AR12 features hose connections at the prism unit for thermostating the optical components. The temperature is precisely measured using a digital thermometer. The measuring principle is based on the law of Snellius (law of refractive index) and allows to measure using either transmitted or totally reflected light. With the use of a fluid, even solids can be measured.

Optionally, an illumination unit is available for prism and scale illumination using a red LED
