Trace SN Cube

Precise sulfur and nitrogen determination at very low concentrations

Analyzing hydrocarbons like gasoline, diesel, or natural gas often requires detecting sulfur and nitrogen in extremely low concentrations. This sulfur and nitrogen analyzer expands on the success of the vario trace SN liquid injection system, by combining a tried-and-tested combustion technique with a newly-developed autosampler.

The trace SN cube combines two complete combustion and detection channels in one analyzer, both served by a single automatic liquid injector that performs separate injections for each analysis. This ensures ideal analytical conditions and allows the use of dedicated catalysts without compromise. The integrated design reduces both cost and space compared to using two separate analyzers, while also streamlining operation through electronic control and data processing. The device fully complies with ASTM D 5453, D 6667, D 4629, and DIN ISO 20846 standards.

Specifications of the sulfur and nitrogen analyzer:

Measuring method
The trace SN cube provides high-temperature combustion in the carrier gas at up to 1,150 °C. It features direct injection of liquid samples into dedicated ports for separate nitrogen and sulfur determination.

Two instruments in one
The trace SN cube features two completely independent combustion and detection channels—one for sulfur and one for nitrogen. This setup provides optimal analytical conditions and dedicated catalysts for each analysis, delivering the full advantages of two separate analyzers without the added expense or space requirements.

Efficient injection methods
The instrument supports injection volumes of up to 20 µl for liquids and 20 ml for gas samples. Thanks to rapid injection times, it ensures complete, residue-free combustion and produces especially sharp peaks.

Purge and trap technique

This option allows users to enable the determination of very low S concentrations, even when N levels are high.

Highly sensitive detection
The instrument utilizes CLD and UV-fluorescence detection methods in full compliance with ASTM standards, ensuring accurate and reliable results.

Broad measuring range
S and N levels can be measured between a range of 0 and 1,000 ppm. Detection limits are set at 6 ppb for S and 15 ppb for N.

Compliance with industry standards
The system operates according to verified standards including ASTM D 6920, ASTM D 4629, ASTM D5453, ASTM D6667, DIN ISO 51444, ASTM D6069, and DIN ISO 20846.
