Applications
The SCHMIDT + HAENSCH Polartronic® V Allrounder enables precise polarimetric analysis of starch in raw materials. It is ideal for use in the sugar industry, food and beverage production, and pulp and paper laboratories to determine starch and cellulose content.
It is also suitable for pharmaceutical applications, including chirality testing and determining enantiomeric excess. Its measurements comply with major standards such as the International Pharmacopeia, OIML, ASTM, and ICUMSA.
Checking/Calibration
Because the interference filters used in circle polarimeters can degrade over time due to age and environmental conditions, periodic checks and potential wavelength readjustments may be necessary. This can be reliably performed using sucrose solutions or quartz control plates.
Quartz control plates are long-term stable reference standards for polarimeter. The sample chamber of SCHMIDT + HAENSCH polarimeters allows both vertical positioning and full 360° rotation of the quartz control plates around their own axis.
Only by rotating the quartz control plates can users verify that the plates are mounted without mechanical strain. This rotation also enables testing of the polarimeter in compliance with international standards such as ICUMSA and OIML.
