B-Elementary

Continuous in-flow Raman analysis

Continuous in-flow Raman analysis with B-Elementary! Although Raman microscopes have improved over the years to offer easier particle analysis and some automation, limitations still persist. The BRAVE B-Elementary overcomes these challenges by enabling continuous, in-flow, single-particle Raman spectra recording with minimal sample preparation.

Raman analysis with minimal sample preparation

BRAVE B-Elementary simplifies Raman particle analysis significantly. Depending on your sample, filtration may not even be necessary before starting the analysis. Simply load the sample into the device and press Start, it’s that easy!

BRAVE B-Elementary is ideal for gaining insights into large sample volumes, such as non-target screening of groundwater, unlocking new possibilities in particle analytics.

This is how BRAVE B-Elementary revolutionizes your particle analysis

Anyone who has used conventional Raman microscopes knows how time-consuming it can be to filter samples and apply them to a substrate. Results often come at a cost, and the time spent on sample preparation could be better used for actual analysis. Wouldn’t it be great to skip the tedious sample preparation and dive straight into chemical analysis?

Enter BRAVE B-Elementary, the Raman analyzer that works directly from the sample vial, enabling continuous in-flow particle analysis for minutes or even hours at a time. The sample is automatically pumped through the measuring cell, where Raman spectra are recorded and results are sent to your PC via the H.A.N.S. software. Additionally, the system determines the number-based particle size and particle concentration.

With BRAVE B-Elementary you can:

  • Get particle analytics at the touch of a button
  • Increase your output while reducing sample preparation efforts
  • Measure directly and continuously in sample flow
  • Get results easily for many different substances in a sample
  • Detect and read out substances even when they are at ultra-low concentrations
  • Identify substances, phases and polymorphs in high-throughput screening

BRAVE particle analytics: one platform, many solutions

BRAVE B-Elementary makes Raman analysis easier than ever before. Your sample analysis will run without you, meaning you are free to get on with other work

  • Continuous analysis in-flow directly in liquids
  • Minimal or no sample preparation required
  • Ideal for high-throughput screening
  • Automated analysis with minimum user interaction
  • Results even when fluorescence is present (sample-dependent)
  • Automatic cleaning cycle that saves you time and effort
  • Raman analysis even on ultra-low concentrations
  • Exact measurement of particle size, particle size distribution as well as particle concentration also available
  • Future implementation into production processes as a PAT sensor

BRAVE B-Elementary is part of a modular platform

The BRAVE devices are designed as a modular platform, allowing you to configure the system to meet your specific needs. The basis and essential component for Raman analysis is the BRAVE B-Curious nanoparticle analyzer.

Adding the BRAVE B-Elementary Raman module extends the platform’s capabilities. Additional modules currently in development include a large-particle counting unit, Raman tweezers, and upgrades for automation and sample handling.

The BRAVE modules feature:

  • Concentration determination: The BRAVE B-Curious device allows the detection and measurement of particles at ultra-low concentrations down to a few particles per millilitre.
  • Time-resolved particle sizing & PSD: This additional module allows the monitoring of PSD continuously and directly out of containers. You can monitor sample behaviour such as agglomeration, formation, dissolution, aggregation, dissociation, self-assembly and more. Detection range: 50 nm* to 5 µm* (*sample-dependent)
  • Size range extension: This additional module allows the detection of large-particle tails, LPC, aggregation behaviours and anomalies. Detection range: 50 nm* to 50 µm* (*sample-dependent)
  • Particle analytics: This module allows the identification and characterization of particle populations via Raman spectroscopy.
  • Low-volume sizing: This module allows the determination of particle size and PSD from low volumes, starting at 20 µl (sample-dependent)
  • Raman tweezers: This module allows the trapping of particle populations for characterization with Raman spectroscopy.

Applications: BRAVE B-Elementary in action

BRAVE B-Elementary is ideal for routine chemical analysis, making it accessible for non-specialists. For those with application knowledge, it serves as an excellent tool for gaining deeper, explorative insights.
